Hydrate Sis, Stop the Cycle of Thirst

Peace and Love,

How are you feeling today? Tired, achey, headache, muscles sore, done with everything and everybody? Hydration is key in staying balanced. Weather it’s essentia or Britta filtered tap water it’s time to pick up a glass. Every cell, tissue, and organ in your body requires water to function. Lightens your mood, moves toxins out of the body, and regulates your temperature. When the body is full hydrated it can function properly to fight off any cootie that might try to infiltrate.

If there’s a magical elixir to drink, it’s water. *Hydration is vital for flushing toxins out of your body, which can help fight inflammation. Adequate water intake can help keep your joints well lubricated and prevent gout attacks. Drinking water before a meal can also help you eat less, promoting weight loss.

There are some things I’ve learned to help those that don’t enjoy the taste

Add some lemon or lime. My favorite and quickest choice. I keep a bowl of fresh slices of lemons and limes in the refrigerator. Keep it on the same shelf as you store your water. Prep ahead of time. The less work you make for yourself the more likely you’ll want to do it.

A splash of whatever juice you have in the fridge. I keep mango, orange, and cranberry juice on hand. Not only are they refreshing and delicious, they have medicinal properties also.

Try sparkling water. It’s an acquired taste and very beneficial. It helped me cut my soda intake. The bubbles help with digestion and had more minerals then regular water.

Add ginger and cucumber (or any fruit) for spa water. The taste of cucumber ginger water with a twist of lime is probably my favorite magical water of all time. If you add some mint leaves( that you can eat when you’ve finished your glass or bottle, will freshen the breath and is said to be an appetite suppressant. Certain chemical compounds in fresh ginger help your body ward off germs. They’re especially good at halting growth of bacteria like E.coli and shigella.

Juices and sports drinks are also hydrating — you can lower the sugar content by diluting them with water. Coffee and tea also count in your tally. Many used to believe that they were dehydrating, but that myth has been debunked. The diuretic effect does not offset hydration.

When I’ve had enough water for the day, and I’m hydrated and happy, I’m unstoppable. Try it, go and get some water right now. Yes, right now. Let’s toast to a healthy lifestyle change.

*If you really want the water you drink to help you lose weight, you should follow the “8×8” rule recommended by most nutritionists: Drink eight eight-ounce glasses of water per day for weight loss and to maintain an ideal weight.
